Learning unit contents
In this course, different evaluation techniques of child's functioning will be introduced to the students. First, research methods in developmental psychology will be discussed: different types of studies and techniques (strange situation, A non B errror, habituation, visual preference, operant conditioning, etc.). Then, the main principles of the clinical evaluation in children's will be recalled. Finally, the interview techniques (non-directive, structured, semi-structured), observation (naturalist, controlled) and questionnaire (self-administered, hetero-questionnaire, social desirability) will be developed in more details. Several assessment tools in child psychology will be presented. This will provide a working basis for the practical work in which the student will have to assess a child and his family using these different tools. An assessment report will be produced.
