Learning unit contents

The course has 2 main objectives:
1.  Learning to make a diagnosis in light of the criteria indicated by the reference classification system (DSM-5).
In this perspective, the main nosographic categories will be presented (intellectual disability; autism spectrum disorders; ; learning disorders; attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder; behavioral disorders; mood disorders ; anxiety disorders; etc.), by identifying the semiology, comorbidities, evolution, and etiopathogenesis.
2) Learning to read the child psychopathology from a relational perspective, by identifying the family functioning variables that can maintain the symptom in the child.
To this end, the study of the parent-child attachment relationship will be deepened in order to read the psychopathological manifestations in children related to the notion of parental psychopathology. Particular attention will be paid to the clinical issues most often experienced by children in relation to the elements of complexity that they can experience within contemporary families (eg: children from divorce; migrant children; children adopted or in foster care; children within LGBT families etc).

The course aims at introducing students to the main psychopathological disorders during childhood both from both nosographic and relational approaches.
