Learning unit contents
The course introduces the different types of students assessement and discusses the measurement issue in educational sciences. It consists of:
1. The different types of students assessment and the scoring biases
2. An introduction devoted to (i) the definition of the measurement concept , by comparison with the concept of evaluation and (ii) the theoritical and practical problems of the measure in human sciences, as well as the different steps of the measurement process;
3. The developement of the measurement framework ;
4. The writting of the questions;
5. Some statistical tools for describing the psychometric properties of a test and of its questions.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course aims at :
1. Familiarizing students with the fundamental concepts of evaluation and psychometrics ;
2. Making students sensitive to the measurement problems encoutered in educational sciences ;
3. Describing the rules and procedures for the elaboration of a measurement instrument ;
4. Enabling students to compute and interpret some psychometric indices from the Classical Test Theory

Assessment methods and criteria
