Learning unit contents

The course systematically presents concepts of grammatical analysis and apply them to the French language by the means, a.o., of tree-like diagrams.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, students will have the following abilities:

  • ability to analyse any French sentence usin grammatical analysis;
  • ability to express such an analysis by the means of conventional diagrams;
  • knowledge of the main structural issues in the desciption of French.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Very good proficiency in French language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Magistral teaching and discussions. 
Some of the analysed texts are in the syllabus of LROM0063-1 Initiation à l'analyse textuelle (domaine français).
A tutor will help the students to prepare the discussions.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

The course is given in Q1, face to face (subject to change according to the health situation).

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

I the health situation continues to worsen, lessons will take place on the Collaborate platform (same time schedule)
Online examination (eCampus) during a firmly defined time window. Students will have 2 hours to answer 10 questions about the identification of parts of speech and grammatical functions. Students will be allowed to answer all 10 questions for all the duration of the examination.
