THIS COURSE IS NOT INTENDED FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS OF GERMAN!
The aim of this course is to improve the knowledge and the know-how acquired by the student on a linguistic level (structures, vocabulary) taking into account the multicultural and international features of their environment.
Taught in German - and in French for grammar explanations
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
In connection with the KLOs, this course aims at helping the students:
- to communicate efficiently in German, taking into account the multicultural and international features of their environment;
- to be curious and rigorous.
At the end of the year, the student should be able to communicate orally and in writing in German at the European level A2+/B1-.
They should be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance, to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters and to describe, in simple terms, aspects of their background and immediate environment.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
European A2 level (the learner can read and understand simple messages and communicate in simple terms)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Written and oral exercises on grammar and vocabulary.
Listening and reading exercises based on various sources.
Working with the textbook "Deutsch als Fremdsprache im Unternehmen", Niveau B1 (Klett).
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Course one hour/week and homework
Due to the sanitary crisis, a part of the course (or all of it) may have to be done remotely. The students will be informed according to the evolution of the situation.

Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Written exam (90 %):
In January:
Grammar and vocabulary exercises.
Listening comprehension about episodes of the series "Das Deutschlandlabor" (Deutsche Welle) or other audio tracks.
In June:
Grammar and vocabulary exercises and short essay. Listening comprehension on "Deutsch als Fremdsprache im Unternehmen" or other audio tracks.
Active in-class participation: 10 %.
Students have to take all the different parts of the examination, otherwise the final mark will be 0/20.
Assessment methods may be adapted according to the evolution of the sanitary crisis.

Organizational remarks
Considering the sanitary context, a reduced number of students only may be able to follow the lecture in class, following an alternation system. Compensatory solutions will be provided by the lecturer according to the evolution of the situation.
