Learning unit contents

This course is organized around thematic chapters related to professional life and aims at:


  • touching topics such as job application, the job market as well as the office/house environment.
  • exercising skills such as sharing a memory/event, setting goals, expressing a preference/an opinion, comparing, but also describe and present the differents topics discussed in class through texts and videos.
  • studying texts while progressively integrating linguistic and grammatical structures
  • reusing and consolidating vocabulary and language structures studied in previous lessons.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Goal: reaching the A2+/B1 level of the CECRL

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Prerequisite: LANG1936-1 Néerlandais élementaire 1

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Learning ativities such as:

  • roleplaying
  • conversation and discussion related to the documents analysed during the course
  • reading and studying of texts
  • listening comprehension of audio and video documents
  • vocabulary assimilation
  • grammar drills
  • writing short texts, mails,...
 

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face to face during the second semester (2h/week) Students are required to prepare activities and exercises on a weekly basis as indicated by the teacher, as indicated in the planning. 

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

Teaching in 'Orange Code'
As for Code green, als the documents and resolutions will be made available. If a student is sick, he/she can notify the teacher and a podcast will be made. 

January Exam
If it becomes impossible to organise a face-to-face exam (written and oral) in January, the written exam will be replaced by an online oral exam on Collaborate.  This will consist of questions about the vocabulary and the grammar as well as questions about the documents analysed in class.
In the case of an oral exam online, there will we two parts:
- questions about the content of the documents analysed in class.
- students will also have to be able to give an opinion about a second document analysed in class.
 
Permanent Evaluation
The different parts of the permanent evaluation will still be organised in class in 'orange code' but will be organised online on Lol@ in 'red code'.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Final exam consisting of :  
- Written exam :

consisting of vocabulary exercises (chapters 1 to 3) and grammar exercises, a listening exercise (2 parts: known and unknown) (during the exam session), a reading exercise
- Oral exam :
about the 3 chapters
Permanent evaluation

  • 1 test (vocabulary + grammar) 
  • 2 written expressions
Division


  • Written exam (June): 8/20 Voc/Gram: 4 pt Listening: 3 pt Reading: 1 pt
  • Oral exam (June): 6/20
  • Permanent evaluation: 6/20 1 test: 2 pts 2 written expressions: 4 pts
 

If a student gets a '0' or an 'A' (absence) for any assessment (written and oral exam in January, written exercice and test during the semester), his final mark will automatically be '0' or 'A'. 
Every final grade between 9,5 and 9,99 out of 20 will automatically be rounded down to 9/20 for the first as well as the second session.
