Learning unit contents

The lecture will take place three times, once in the first semester, twice in the second. The group in the first semester is usually smaller.
IMPORTANT: teaching languages: French and German.
Master students will soon be on the job market and know better what they would like to do. They may realize that they will need German in their future career. In two years, this course aims at giving the students a basic knowledge of the German language. It's priority is efficient communication (rather than grammatical perfection) and the acquisition of German business vocabulary. We'll also try to introduce the students to some aspects of business life in Germany.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Our KLOs show how important it is to be able to communicate efficiently in at least three languages, including English.
This course allows the students to learn basic German as a fourth language; at the end of Master 2, the student will be able to communicate  in German in business situations on a basic level, orally and in writing. He/She will be able to: - understand and write an e-mail, an basic text - understand a basic conversation, a phone call - give a basic presentation - take part in a basic professional conversation

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The student should be able to understand French. No previous knowledge in German.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Methodology:

  • Working at home with Deutsche Welle's online course "Nicos Weg"
  • In the classroom: the teacher will answer students' questions and make oral exercises

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

HALF OF THE WORK HAS TO BE DONE AT HOME, ONLINE. Without this individual work at home, it is impossible to follow the course!
