Learning unit contents
Communication topics are given only as examples. They will be approached only superficially, in relation with the targeted language level.
Communication topics : personal data, family, work, time, the weather, food, personal relationships and contacts with other people, means of transportation, etc.
Grammar : different categories of transfers (according to C. Cuxac's theory (2000)), affirmation, negation, open questions, closed questions, sign order in a simple sentence, introduction to timelines, fingerspelling.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Understanding
To understand familiar and daily expressions as well as very basic sentences regarding oneself, one's family, one's immediate needs, one's immediate and concrete environment.
Interacting,
To introduce oneself or introduce someone else, ask and answer simple questions about familiar topics (about one's house, one's relationships or possessions) or about immediate needs.
Producing
To use expressions and basic sentences to introduce oneself or other people, talk about home, talk about what one's doing.

Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
Following the restrictions during the exams, two options will be available:
Option A (no access restrictions during exams)
Written exam / or video assessment (60%)
Oral exam (40%)
Option B (access restricted due to covid19)
Video assessment (100%)
Warning : if you submit your assessment in French Sign Language instead of French Belgian Sign Language, the final grade will be 0/20.
