Learning unit contents
The course consists of the collective translation and historical commentary of texts revealing the significant grammatical, orthographic, syntactic and semantic transformations that Latin underwent during the medieval period.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of this course, the student will be able to
- explain the evolution of the Latin norm over the centuries
- to identify the main linguistic characteristics of a text, to comment on them and, on this basis, to formulate a dating hypothesis
- to translate a text not seen during the course
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good command of classical Latin.
Good command of the oral and written French.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The student must prepare their translation into French before the course.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
This course is scheduled on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 12:00. However, this schedule may be modified according to the availability of interested students.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
In the event of a change in sanitary conditions, the classroom sessions will be kept as long as possible in the classroom, given the practical nature of the teaching given in this seminar. If access to the classrooms is denied, the class sessions will be maintained at the schedule given by videoconference in the BBCollaborate virtual classroom (access via Ecampus). In the event of a changeover to distance learning mode, students will be notified by email (on the institutional email address).

Assessment methods and criteria
