Learning unit contents
This seminar is the last step in the history student's training course before writing the final thesis.It is therefore the place for an initial mobilisation of all the skills acquired during the baccalaureate course and/or as an option in the Master's programme in fields as varied as palaeography, bibliographical research, diplomacy, medieval Latin and/or ancient and medieval French, or iconography, archaeology and history of Art.
It is imperative that it be followed by students of Master 1 destined for a TFE in Medieval History.
In 2020-2021, the theme is "Baptism and godparenthood in the early Middle Ages."
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The student will be able to put into practice the techniques and methods of research in medieval history to which he or she was previously acquired with a view to carrying out an original personal work.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Have followed course HIST0018-1
Have followed HIST0005-1 or HIST0003-1 is preferable
Have a perfect command of the oral and written French
Have a good command of classical Latin grammar
Have a basic knowledge of modern Languages is a plus
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Collective critical translation and interprétation of latin sources. Oral presentation and debate
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
The active participation of students in the courses is required.
Some sessions may be adjourned by mutual agreement with the students to allow each student to progress in his or her research.
In accordance with article 41 §. 2 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, any student who has not participated in the activities declared inseparable from this course or has not submitted, within the set deadlines or in the prescribed form, the work required in the course will be declared inadmissible for the examination.
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
In the event of a change in sanitary conditions, the classroom sessions will be kept as long as possible in the classroom, given the practical nature of the teaching given in this seminar. If access to the classrooms is denied, the class sessions will be maintained at the schedule given by videoconference in the BBCollaborate virtual classroom (access via Ecampus). In the event of a changeover to distance learning mode, students will be notified by email (on the institutional email address).

Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Continuously evaluation during the year.
Students will be evaluated on account of a written report in May.
The note will be based on:
- the quality and accuracy of documentary research
- the ability of translating and interpretating
- the proficiency in written French
