Learning unit contents

Identification of the different types of research and the stages of a research project The choice of the subject in connection with concrete problems The literature review using databases and the Internet Bibliographical instructions (APPA standards) The analytical framework: Research questions Inductive or deductive method Dependent and independent variables and assumptions Definition of concepts The use of one or more theories Methodology : Quantitative / qualitative choice Data collection: constitution of the sample and its representativeness Presentation of the different techniques (questionnaire, interviews, document analysis, database processing, etc.) Basic Principles for Analyzing Qualitative Data Basic principles for the analysis of quantitative data Presentation of the results and linking with the literature (discussion) The conclusions and the introduction / bibliography / appendices. Some tips for writing and proofreading the manuscript / for oral defense.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Give students the tools necessary for the success of an end of study thesis and a doctoral thesis Explain to them the structure and scientific requirements of such documents Show them how to conduct a scientific literature review Learn the methods of data collection and analysis Learn to discuss results and make conclusions Give them the tools to write dissertations and theses related to the economic world and the Beninese organizational reality

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

A priori face-to-face but we will see depending on the evolution of COVID scenarios, which can lead either to split the class (lessons every other week), or to spend the entire course remotely. We are waiting for instructions from the university some home preparations (read text and watch video before class)
