Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course will include: -An introduction to several softwares for comparing two nucleotide or peptide sequences (Blast, FastA, Clustal, ...) and a description of the different sequence data bases available from Internet;
- The different methods for identifying a coding frame within a nucleotide sequence;
- The various programs that allow characterization of a peptide sequence (hydrophobicity, secondary structure prediction, theoretical isoelectric point, search of motif, ...).
The practical works associated with this module will enable students to use the software tools presented during the theory course.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The course will enable students to acquire the knowledge to use different softwares available on the Internet and used to analyze a nucleotide or peptide sequence.
