Learning unit contents

In general terms the course presents...

  • the principles, characteristics and varieties of ICT uses;
  • their advantages and limits in linguistic or cognitive terms, particularly in the context of language learning;
  • issues in this field and their implications at the level of objectives and teaching methods for languages;
  • modalities for the use of TIC in course and classes teaching French as a foreign or second language (in the classroom or remotely).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Participants in the course should become able to :

  • gain facility using the Internet for pedagogical purposes;
  • evaluate the usefulness of multimedia resources in classes of French as a foreign language;
  • discover digital pedagogical resources;
  • create interactive online activities and exercises;
  • make use of various functionalities of an e-learning platform.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

  • Should have knowledge and/or experience in linguistics and teaching methods;
  • Should have knowledge of basic computer skills (word processing, e-mail, Internet navigation).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

After having thought about the impact of digital technology in the teaching/learning of French as a foreign language, students will discover a series of tools enabling them to test the class, to assess their expertise and to stimulate peer exchanges and collaboration inside or outside the classroom. Numerous examples of concrete applications will be shown.
They will then be invited to create an original lesson (two students) or to enhance existing lessons using digital technology (one student).
