Learning unit contents
The Master seminar on contemporary documentary cinema adresses each year a specific topic in the field of the analysis of documentary cinema. Alternating lectures and student presentations, this year's edition will exclusively focus on possible links between Critical theory (of the Frankfurt School and its indrect heirs in the field of media studies) and political documentary (militant or socially critical audiovisuel works). The works of following artists and essayists will be approached a.o.: Alexander Kluge, Harun Farocki, Chris Marker, Jennie Livingston, Chantal Akerman, T.W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer, Oskar Negt and Hans Magnus Enzensberger.
