Learning unit contents
The course aims to introduce the students to a range of theoretical and methodological tools, which will be displayed in order to highlight the plurality and the plasticity of the research field. The classes will revolve around a rigorous bibliographic work, which will be confronted to empirical studies. Thus, the students will be invited to seize and question certain standard anthropological approaches.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Courses of anthropology are designed to get students used to handle and to question objects in their whole complexity. Beyond the acquisition of formal knowledges, it is a matter of developing and creating some methodological tools, able to open up new perspectives by unframing the glaze.
Additionally to master both history and current developments of sensorial anthropology (perceptions, emotions, sensitivity...), students will take on a critical practice of ethnographic description, through a confrontation to senses.

The course will be organized on a seminar basis, two or three hours per week.
Organisational arrangements are taken based on the number of students and depend on the teachers ; a calendar will be established.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
The course will be taught in a face-to-face mode, the attendance is mandatory.

Recommended or required readings
A list of required readings will be handed out to the students. Each will have to present one or several articles during the course. We insist on the importance of the preparation work that this requires from all.
Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
The students will have to display a well-argued and documented written piece of work on a topic previously discussed with the teachers.
Practical terms will be detailed at the end of the course.
Students will also be evaluated based on a presentation about one or several article(s) of their choice.
An active involvement is expected during the classes and will be taken into account for the evaluation.
