Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Learning unit contents

As the course is common to several sections of various faculties (Institute of Social Sciences, Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Psychology), an attention is granted to the diversity of the school and professional courses, but also to the waitings of students.
This course tends to link at the same time theoretical topics (the large sociological theories which had an interest for the ageing-related themes) and concrete problems (mistreatment, dependence, active ageing, etc.)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will be able to remember and will have understood the main sociological and theoretical concepts met.
Especially, he will have acquired a critical glance on notions such as the dependence of elderly people, the older workers, the representations of old age...
He will be able to argue on these topics.

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

Teaching methods have been adapted as follows (except one session done by other researchers):
- slides with shorter oral comments
- summaries of articles, linked with the course, done by students volunteer
The content of all courses after the buildings were closed are on e-campus.

Assessment subjects

The course consists of: - face-to-face sessions before the closing of teaching buildings - sessions of pre-recorded slides (slide by slide) which constitute the "spinal column" - syntheses of the articles as additional readings which develop the concepts, to a better understanding (the basic articles being sent for advisory purposes, but no question of the examination referring to it, only the summary material will be used for the examination).

Assessment methods

The examination will consist of a work to be carried out, starting from sources provided by the teacher, and which will make it possible to evaluate the good integration of the courses and the capacity to use it.
The work methods will be communicated after the last course session (Thursday, May 7). The work must be returned fout weeks after the date on which it is communicated. Any personal situation making this deadline difficult may be communicated, an adaptation may be considered with the agreement of the MSSP and subject to demonstrated justification, related to the epidemy of Covid-19).
