Learning unit contents

  • Presentation and illustration of the main trends in research in the field of globalization
  • Presentation and illustration of the main trends in research in the field of sociology of social movements.
  • Presentation and illustration of contemporary movements and organizations in developing countries linked to the theme of globalization.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • General introduction to a specialised area of sociology.
  • Knowledge of and critical approach to the main theoretical schools and leading authors.
  • Introduction to the problems of globalization through the social movements and civil organizations relating to it.
  • Questioning of the analysis of contemporary movements linked to globalization through the mobilizations and protests of developing countries, especially in South World..

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

  • Lectures and regular question and answer sessions.
  • Lectures by invited experts.
  • 30 hours course (theory), given in the second term, on Fridays from 12 noon-2.30 pm.

  • Reference book to be purchased for the first part: E. Neveu, Sociologie des mouvements sociaux. Editions La Découverte, collection Repères, Paris, 4th edition, 2005.
  • Support Reading :  Romain Lecler, Sociologie de la mondialisation. Editions La Découverte, collection Repères, Paris, 2013.
  • A bibliography will be given during the classes.

  • Written examination  in June
  • Oral exam in September

En raison des limites de l'enseignement à distance, la matière se limitera aux présentations orales, podcasts, dias (power-point) et l'ouvrage de Eric Neveu.
 
Les références au Dictionnaire des mouvements sociaux et à l'ouvrage de Romain Leclerc "Sociologie de la mondialisation"  ne seront pas évaluées et ne feront pas objet de question d'examen.

examen QCM réalisé en ligne avec le support de IFRES-Ecampus le 20 mai AM.
le questionnaire sera adapté aux contingences pédagogiques et techniques.
