Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
After a general and epidemiologic introduction, each human system is addressed: basic aspects of normal physiology, followed by evolution throughout ageing. Are successively studied: cardio-vascular system, respiratory system, renal system, digestive system, immune system, endocrine system, and nervous system. The course being targeted to psychology students, the nervous system is more deeply studied. The overall care of the ageing patient is also covered, as well as the recent advances to understand ageing mechanisms.
Partim 1 encompasses general and epidemiologic introduction; ageing of cardio-vascular, respiratory, and renal systems.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objective of the course is to understand the physio-pathologic mechanisms of ageing, and their consequences on the human body

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session
Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning
The subject matter of all the chapters is detailed in the syllabus.
Chapters I to VI were seen in the face-to-face course (reverse pedagogy).
A session is organized using the Collaborate tool to answer students' questions relating to Chapters VII and VIII (as well as to the other chapters).
Assessment subjects
The material of this course on physiology of senescence breaks down as follows:
- General and epidemiological introduction (Chapter I)
- Mechanisms of senescence (Chapter II)
- Senescence of the cardiovascular system (Chapter III)
- Senescence of the respiratory system (Chapter IV)
- Senescence of the endocrine system (Chapter VI)
- Senescence of the immune system (Chapter VII)
- Senescence of the nervous system (Chapter VIII)
For each system, the principles of normal physiology are reviewed and the changes related to senescence are detailed.
Chapters V (senescence of the renal system), IX (consequences of prolonged bed rest) and X (consequences of retirement on health) are deleted from this year's subject.
Note that Chapters I, II, III and IV were seen during partim I, but that, in agreement with the students, the examination of the May-June session will focus on the subject of partim I and II.
Assessment methods
The assessment will be in the form of a distance oral exam, using a Lifesize type tool
