Learning unit contents
The course aims at deepen and formalise the notions of electromagnetism taught in the first year. The course covers electrostatics, magnetostatics, electrodynamics, Maxwell's equations, conservation laws and electromagnetic radiation. It also covers the relativistic formulation of electrodynamics.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
After the completion of this course, the student will be able to :
- move from the global to the local (differential) form of the laws of classical electrodynamics
- understand the physical meaning of Maxwell's equations and their consequences (superposition principle, conservation of electrical charge, energy, momentum, ...)
- be able to set and solve Maxwell's equations of electromagnetic systems (in electrostatics, magnetostatics and electrodynamics)

Physics and mathematics learned during 1st block
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course consists of ex cathedra lectures supported by derivations on the blackboard.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Classroom based course organized during the 2nd period.

Assessment methods and criteria
A written test covering exercices (35%) and theoretical concepts/global comprehension (65%) is organized in June and August.
