Learning unit contents
The course will be devoted to the following topics :
- relativism, scepticism (in particual climate denial), and the questioning of the authority of science
- how big data challenge the scientific method
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To understand how scientifical problematics and philosophical questions can intercross and be mutually transformed.
To be aware of the interest and vitality of research in the philosophy of sciences by the thorough enquiry into some particular questions.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The course "Introduction à la philosophie des sciences" (BAC1) is a useful but not essential prerequisite.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
After a brief presentation by the professor, students will have to read and discuss several texts (scientific papers and book chapters). Each student will present one of the texts to the class.

Texts to be read will be given to the students during the first session of the course.
Assessment methods and criteria
Students will be assessed mainly on the basis of their presentation of a paper to the class. The active participation during the whole course will also be taken into account.
