Learning unit contents
The course will offer a detailed reading of two fundamental works of Modern thought.
1. Analysis of Descartes's Metaphysical Meditations (4 - 5)
2. Analysis of Kant's Critique of pure Reason ("The antinomy of pure reason").
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Interpretation of the Cartesian metaphysics and of the Kantian philosophy considered inf the light of the main problems arising within Modern philosophy.
Genesis of the structure of the philosophical subject from Descartes to Kant.
Learning of the techniques required for the critical explanation of texts.

To have followed or to follow the course "Histoire de la philosophie des Temps modernes"

Writing examination: a commentary of a passage taken from either the Metaphysical Meditations or the Critique of Pure reason.
