Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

Distant learning

Assessment subjects

Written work on the three operas written by Mozart and DaPonte: Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Juan, Così Fan Tutte.

Assessment methods

The work should be in three parts: the first part will be devoted to the genesis of the works (you can use Mozart's correspondence and the Memoirs of Lorenzo Da Ponte, for example), the second part will evoke the artistic specificities of these three works (rather a musical and textual analysis) and the third part will deal with the reception and the posterity of these three works from their creation (critical fortune, plural readings etc.). No summary of the plots is therefore required.
Students who did not take the exam in January or who have failed, will have to add a fourth part to this work, which consists of demonstrating the psychological richness of the characters in this trilogy. One of the qualities recognized in the operas of Mozart and Da Ponte is indeed to have overcome the stereotypes of the buffa opera and to have given more complexity to certain roles.
