Learning unit contents
This course browses the different approaches explored to develop new drugs. Students are expected to become familiar with the different problems encountered during the design of new drugs.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the cursus, students are expected to understand the different concepts used to discover and develop new drugs.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic notions in pharmacology and in physio(patho)logy.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is given according to the 'flipped classroom' concept. After a first part through e-learning, problem-based learning will be proposed to the students.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The course is divided in two parts:
The first one is achieved on line, using eCampus.
During the second part, dedicated to the PBL, students are expected to be present in the classroom to solve the problems.
Recommended or required readings
A selection of reference books will be available through the online platform.
Assessment methods and criteria
1/3 of the final cotation < practical work.
2/3 of the final cotation < oral exam.

Organizational remarks
A first meeting is scheduled before the online session. The classroom used for the PBL is located at the 5th level of the B36 building (Tr #4 of the 'CHU') in the meeting room of the Medicinal Chemistry Lab.
