Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To provide basics in mathematics to students majoring in bioengineering, with initiation to the main tools of vector algebra and differential calculus (one variable) and their applications in problem analysis and solution. After completing the course, the student is expected to apply differential calculus (one variable) to function study.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Differential calculus of Belgian secundary schools with 4 hours/week in mathematics

Assessment methods and criteria

  • Written examination related to practical works (60%)
  • Written examination related to lectures (35%)
  • Personal report during the academic year (5%)
If the note related to practical works (with personal report) or the note related to lectures <8/20, the global note is not >8/20.

Assessment methods

The theory assessment is changed: the two theory questions are replaced by a multiple choice question. There is no change in the evaluation of the practice. The practical aspects of the distance assessment will be detailed in e-campus.
