After a methodological and cultural-historical introduction, the course will outlines major aspects of seventeenth-century literature. Then it will focused on specific areas (this year : Baroque and Classicism ; literature and civility ; love, gallantry and passion).

Students will be encouraged to develop a deeper view of the seventeenth-century French literature, of its historical background and favorite forms. This will mean direct contact with various texts written by one or more authors and possibly with various documents.
