Assessment methods and criteria
FIRST SESSION
June's final mark rests on the whole year's workload, that is divided as follows:
1. Written skills (60%):

b) January's exam (27,5%) :
* grammar/vocabulary (Q1)
* Bled (units 29 to 40)
* listening comprehension (unseen)
* opinion note
* corpus
c) June's exam (27,5%) :
* grammar/vocabulary (Q2)
* Bled (units 41 to 52 + 83 & 86)
* listening comprehension (unseen)
* opinion note
* corpus
2. Oral part (40%) :
a) presentation #1 (press article + debate) : 5%
b) presentation #2 (Belgian company) : 10%
c) oral exam (based on a press file) : 25%

SECOND SESSION
The calculation of the final mark rests on August's exam, that is divided as follows :
1. Written skills (60%) :
Written exam (which covers the stuff of both written exams, January + June) :
* grammar/vocabulary (Q1 + Q2)
* Bled (units 29 to 52 + 83 & 86)
* listening comprehension (unseen)
* opinion note
* corpus
As mentioned above, in second session, the totality of the stuff of both written exams (January AND June) will have to be studied and presented, regardless of the passed/failed parts during the written exams.
2. Oral exam (40%) :
Oral exam: based on the same press file as in June
WARNING: If one of these two parts (written part/oral part) is passed in June (at least a full 10/20), the related mark will be maintained in the calculation of August's mark (except if the students wish to re-sit the concerned part, in which case the mark obtained in August will automatically replace June's).
Work placement(s)
Organizational remarks
IMPORTANT
Here are the rules that will be applied to this course:
1. We give repeating students NO EXEMPTIONS ('dispenses')
_______________________
2. 'absorbing failure' : if students get less than 10/20 (NOT rounded up!) for one of the items mentioned hereunder, they will be obliged to resit the failed part(s) in August. The concerned parts are:
a) the oral exam
and/or
b) the written exams' average (January + June, 50% each).
If the result obtained in August for the oral exam and/or the written exams (average) still doesn't reach 10/20 (not rounded-up), students will not obtain the credits of this course.
WARNING (reminder): as mentioned above, in second session, for the written part (January/June), the totality of the stuff of both January's and June's exams will have to be re-sat, regardless of the passed/failed parts at the exams.

Assessment subjects
Oral exam
Will be based on the press file and the corpus (the latter was meant for the written exam initially)

- test Bled recap (/5)
- January's written exam (/27,5)
- presentation #1 (/5)
[- presentation #2, for those who got to give it (/10)]
