Learning unit contents
This course aims to develop the students' skills in spoken scientific English (namely their note-taking and responding ability in lectures in the field of biomedical sciences) .
It is an advanced ESP course (CEFR) levels C1 for listening and note-taking skills, B2 for speaking).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The purpose of this course is to teach the students how to take notes efficiently during a scientific lecture in English or during a "journal club" in order to
(1) be able to answer accurate questions
(2) be able to write an abstract
(3) be able to answer to specific questions
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Pratique de l'Anglais Scientifique (compulsory scientific English course in 3rd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences) or equivalent (e.g. IELTS 6 or Cambridge Advanced English A- C).

Several learning methods will be used

(2) Journal Club with tutors
(3) Online seminar for writting and listening skills

Assessment methods and criteria
30 % Oral presentation:
Journal Club presentation by the students based on scientif article presentation
70 % Written Exam: Listining skills
based on a seminar presentation, write an abstract and answer to specific questions
