Learning unit contents
The course will be structured into three main parts of approximately 10 hours each.
1. Introduction to the digital humanities: their history, their objects, their institutional inscription.
2. Tools and methods: practical digital humanities.
3. Introduction to digital culture: internet and popular culture
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The learning outcomes are:
1 give the student an overview of what the digital humanities are at present;
2 put this movement in historical and social context;
3 introduce different tools (in preparation of other minor courses addressing the statistics, programming and practices of the Internet for the Humanities).
4. introduce to digital culture.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, using interactions with students, reading reviews and some practical exercises.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Face-to-face ; student participation is required.
Recommended or required readings
A reading list and a bibliography will be provided at the first class.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination.
Course participation will be part of the evaluation.

The schedule will be prepared in consultation with students.
A first information session will be held on September 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm in my office (building A4, CIPL, basement).
