Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
This lecture is aimed at providing students the knowledge required to apply chemical engineering concepts to the field of biotechnologies.
Each professor is responsible for a part of the course :
Part 1 : biotechnologie microbienne (F. Delvigne)
Part 2 : génie des réacteurs biologiques (D. Toye)
Part 3 : biorefining (A Richel)
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand industrial biotechnological processes and assess the associated issues.
He/she will be able to propose solutions on the basis of his/her knowledge in chemical engineering.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic knowledge in chemical engineering (chemical kinetics, transport phenomena, physical unit operations, reactors)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Part 1 : 4 x half-day course given by F. Delvigne
Volet 2 : 5 x half-day course given by D. Toye
Volet 3 : 3 x half-day course given by A. Richel
Visits to industrial companies and/or research labs will organised in relation to the 1st and the 3rd part.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Face-to-face seminars combining theory, case studies, and visits of industrial sites and/or research labs
Recommended or required readings
Copy of slides

Organizational remarks
Some activities (labs, visits) imply a minimal number of attendants. Course will be organised only if at least 4 students are interested.
Lectures by Pr. Franck Delvigne and Dominique Toye will be organised in Liège, Sart Tilman (more info on Celcat).
Lectures by Pr Aurore Richel will be organised in Gembloux.
Meeting information : 8:15 - Building 8, 1st floor.
(See : https://www.gembloux.uliege.be/cms/c_4189409/fr/gembloux-plans-du-campus)
A mandatory lab session will be associated to each lecture. Standard lab safety equipment are mandatory (lab coat and glasses). No access to the lab without safety equipment.
