Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
This course is an introduction to the electrical and magnetic properties of solid materials. The relationships between the macroscopic properties and the atomic structure are described without resorting to complex mathematical developments. The theoretical sections are illustrated by exercises and a specific section reviews some practical aspects and applications. Examples and exercises are chosen amongst the different types of materials (metals, ceramics, glasses and polymers).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objective of the course is to provide the students with the basic knowledge necessary to get access to more advanced textbooks or literature related to material properties and applications.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Theoretical course illustrated by many exercices involving schemes/figures/tables from literature. A few carefully-selected videos help to visualise some concepts and applications.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
face-to-face
Recommended or required readings
