Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The applied organic chemistry course focuses on modern extraction, purification and identification methods of organic molecules from complex biological systems with special emphasize to chemical characterization, chromatographic and sampling techniques
After completing the course the student is expected to
- describe and argue about sampling and purification of the organic molecules;
- understand the different techniques (chemical analysis, derivatization, chromatography,...) for the characterization of the analytes as well as use state of the art chromatograhic methods;
- be able to discuss case studies including the theoritical aspects of the course.
