Learning unit contents

1. Origin and general properties of pesticides and biocides
2. Introduction to toxicology and regulatory requirements for risk assessment
3. Methodology for risk assessment of chemical contaminants
4. Risk assessment : exposure of operators
5. Risk assessment : consumer exposure
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, the student must be able :

  • to know the origin of pesticides and biocides and understand the issues of chemical control in the general framework a sustainable agriculture.
  • to know the main properties (physico-chemical, biological, toxicological and ecotoxicological) for the risk assessment of pesticides and biocides
  • to adopt a methodological approach in risk assessment
  • to apply the mathematical models and make the calculations for estimating the exposure of operators and consumers to pesticides

Prepare a Power point (about 20 slides). Oral presentation. Oral answer to questions.
