Learning unit contents

Sketches, Shake, Space.
The architect practice, committed to the design of the space, requires creativity and imagination, leading him to draw on everything obtained by his interest in all forms of culture and his capacity to appropriate them.
Art remains this universal way by which man speaks of himself without any restraint or limit, exploring sometimes the shallows of his nature, sometimes his aspirations to the sublime and to the surpassing of himself ( in Art contemporain Le Guide. Elisabeth Couturier. Flammarion ed. 223p. 2015)
Art and architecture were always deeply intricated. All art forms represented by sculpture, painting, literature, music, films, photography, dance, theatre, etc...supply this search for composing, for perfect proportion of beauty linked to the architectural act.
The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the extraordinary emotional and intellectual richness of contemporary artworks as well as with exhibitions scenographies.
Discussed visits to museums will enable the identification of keys and landmarks for a better understanding of  this artistic world frequently considered as undecipherable.
Analysis of the scenography of these exhibitions as writing in the space, serving the exhibition and inside the museums, will allow the students to look critically at  artworks.
On completion of these visits, the students will draft a text illustrated with their own sketches, relating what was perceived and understood by each of them during these visits.
