Learning unit contents
Following the course Social and Cultural Anthropology I, this course presents the theories that have become influential in anthropology in the second half of the 20th century. These theories are illustrated by concrete case studies taken from various ethnographic contexts.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To introduce students to recent anthropological theories. At the end of the course, students will be able to highlight the contribution of each theory for understanding the central issues of our time.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Students must in principle have completed the course of Social and Cultural Anthropology I

The course consists in face-to-face lessons.
Recommended or required readings
Students receive compulsory readings at the beginning of the course. The powerpoint presentations and, if the room has the necessary equipment, the course podcasts are posted on MyUliège every week.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination aims to assess student's understanding of the course and readings. As it depends on the number of students, details about the type of examination will be given during the first lesson.

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning
Podcasts (powerpoint presentation with narration) have been recorded from the end of the lesson on practice up to the conclusion. These supplement the podcasts of the face-to-face lessons, from the introduction to the first part of the lesson on practice. All the podcasts are accompanied by the course powerpoint presentations in the course support tab.
