Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Theory

The goals of that course are multiple: -first: to give an overview of the general architecture of the human body to allow a good undserstanding of the principal physiological processes -second: to give an integrative view of the anatomy -third: to train the student with the 3D vision of the human body and its components by the use of the descriptive tools (from old tool (as section, schemes...) to niew tools (computer assisted imaging, 3D reconstruction).A complete schedule of the learning outcomes classified by learning events is downloadable trough the online course. Attribution of the learning outcomes to each section is indicated on the schedule. The course dedicated to the medical students includes an introduction to embryology (origin and disposition of the 3 major tissular components of the embryo).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theory

5 workshops are organized (10 for medical students). Some workshops will be held in the "Institut of human Anatomy" and some will be avalaible on line on the WebCT course. Attendance is compulsory for both of them and subject to cotation.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Theory

Schedule for each section will be published in the "vademecum"On line ressources are available trough "My Ulg" > "WebCT". > Slides, demonstrations, sketches performed during lectures, discussions and auto-evaluation can be found on that on line course . A special workshop "how to use your on line course" will be organized in october or november.http://www.webct.ulg.ac.be/webct/logon/137759553001
Slides, evaluation tools, documents required for the demonstation sessions and sketsches performed durindg the lectures are available on the on line course.
To access to the on-line course the sutdent has to complete a 3D visual test and an on-line lesson devoted to anatomical descrotion and it's tools in the specific field of human anatomy.

Recommended or required readings

Theory

The 2008-2009 syllabus edition is downloadable from the online course and purchasable to the "Presses Universitaires". Reference book: Possession of that reference book is not essential, illustrations from the lectures, syllabus and demonstrations should be of suffisance for most students. Nevertheless, we recommand " Gray's Anatomy for students" (Drake, Vogl, Mitchell) (Elsevier editor) (french version available)

Theory

High speed internet connexion offers the best way to connect to the on line course, especially for the demonstrations based on videos or animations. A multimedia lab with high speed internet connexion computers is accessible for all students in front of the Human Anatomical department (Bureau pédagogique) Other multimedia labs are available in the university. Wireless ressources are available in most of the classrooms.
