Learning unit contents

Practical introduction to the translation of different types of cultural and literary texts. For more details, please see the course descriptions for TRAD0113-A-a et TRAD0113-B-b.

Culture

The course offers a practical introduction to the translation of different types of cultural texts. It is a continuation of TRAD0114-1 (Dutch-French translation from Dutch into French: tourism, museography, press and media) whose fields of application it shares, adding to it the translation of semi-literary texts (e. g. essays and chronicles) and the translation of (semi-) scientific texts in the field of social sciences and humanities.

The course aims to raise awareness of the particularities and stylistic conventions of these types of texts, aspects register and jargon, as well as certain translatological aspects related to cultural translation.

Le cours propose une initiation pratique à la traduction de différents types de textes littéraires (prose, poésie, essai, littérature de jeunesse).
