Learning unit contents

Preparatory courses for cardiopulmonary bypass and associated techniques.
Subjects covered:




  • Cardiopulmonary bypass in cardiac surgery
  • ECMO/ECLS
  • Supply techniques for short, middle and long terms
  • Blood conservation techniques
  • Hemofiltration

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The purpose of the course is to present different available techniques to take care for critical patients 
The student for the Perfusion section or Critical Care section will obtain the bases for a better understanding of techniques and finally a better monitoring of the patients.

  • cardiac
  • respiratory
  • renal

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theoritical courses
Practical courses: initiation to the ECMO technique with the simulation approach. Simulation courses (2 sessions of 2 hours for each student).
