Learning unit contents

We present the mathematical concepts necessary for understanding general relativity.

- Tensorial analysis in flat spaces;
- Parallel transport on affine manifolds;
- Definition and properties of the Riemann-Christoffel tensor;
- Bianchi identities;
- Riemannian manifolds.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The learning outcome of the course will be the ability of students to understand the mathematical sense of the Einstein field equations (which will be developed in course SPAT0012-3).
