Learning unit contents
This is a non technical course describing the main ideas and concepts of Einstein's relativistic theory of gravitation.
- Special relativity;
- Rindler metric;
- Equivalence principle between inertia and gravitation;
- Rotating frames;
- Intrinsic curvature of surfaces;
- Introduction to non euclidean geometries.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The learning outcome is to offer the students a new perspective beyond the design of space and time according to Newton : the relativistic spacetime.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic notions in theoretical physics (classical mechanics and electromagnetism).
