Learning unit contents

This course aims at providing the students support to carry out their personal project and write their master's thesis.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course is organised in different classes.
It will familiarize students with the formal guidelines for writing their personal project or their thesis, during the Master in Population and Development Studies. Classes will help students conduct bibliographic research, write a bibliography, formulate research questions and hypotheses, and make choices related to methodology or field of research.
Students will have mutiple opportunities to meet with teachers to discuss the progress made on their personal project (or their thesis), and ask questions.

Theoretical sheets will accompany the course: - Writing and structuring of personal work - Research Methods in Social Sciences - Bibliographical references - Interviews and material analysis, theoretical benchmarks and advice A PPT will also be available, repeating the theoretical parts of the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will be assessed through: - Presence and participation in the course sessions. - A short work on the progress of personal work
