Learning unit contents

The seminar aims at providing students with methodological tools neccesary to the building of a research process. 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of the seminar, the student has to be able to indentify the different steps of a research process, to ask an adequate research question, to investigate the literature, to problematize a research object, to choose an appropriate methodological approach and to conduct a research. 
Besides, students have to be able to devise a research report.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The lessons will be dedicated to:
- the research process;
- the literature review; 
- the interview and observation;
- the analysis of empirical data;
- the writing;
- the devising of a research report.

Sessions in class and exercises outside the class.

Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation during the first exam period
Regarding Labour Sciences (120 ECTS) and Human Resources Management students, the evaluation will consist of: 

  • Homeworks (30% of the final mark) 
  • A research report (70% of the final mark) 
Regarding Labour Sciences (60 ECTS) students, the evaluation will consist of: 
  • Homeworks (30% of the final mark)
  • A research report (50% of the final mark)
  • An oral presentation of the results (20% of the final mark)
Evaluation during the second examen period 
Regarding Labour Sciences (120 ECTS) and Human Resources Management students, the evaluation will consist of: 
  • Updating the research report 
Regarding Labour Sciences (60 ECTS) students, the evaluation will consist of: 
  • Updating the research report (70% of the final mark) 
  • An oral presentation of the results (30% of the final mark)
In order to be able to validate the ECTS associate to the seminar, students in Labour Sciences (60 ECTS) will have to hand over: 
  • Either a proof of employment 
  • Or an internship agreement 
All students that fail to fill this obligation will be sanctioned.
