Learning unit contents

Responsabilities, objectives and programs of teacher trainers in High Teaching schools, precisely linked to the competences approach:
- to analyse the concept of conceptualization in action;
- to scrutinize the concept of competencies in education;
-Democratical issues and  risks of inequalities of different didactical approaches linked to a competences approach;
- Appropriate methodologies.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- To make own the theoritical, decreed and methodological basis of the competences approach at different school levels.
- To try out and regularize building methodologies for futur teachers similar to those they would use in Teacher training schools:
° to put the school-fellows in situation to live an activity which could be carried out with young adults in Teacher training schools
° to check comprehension by the school-fellows of the fundamental concepts
° to engage a reflection on the role of teacher Trainers.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Prerequisites: PEDA157 - Professional Didactic and Teachers Initial Training (Part 1)
Co-requisites: internship (in a Teacher training School or which is closely linked to the course PEDA 1229

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Two courses are on-line (articles and questionnaires  aimed at comprehension sef-assessement.
Practical work is devoted to the elaboration and implementation, in collaboration with other students, of training activities related to the different themes treated in class.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

The course is organised in 9 lessons (each one lasts 3 hours), including theoretical framing and the presentations of the students . These nine lessons are given face-to-face. The students have to participate to those nine meetings.

The practical part is related to the preparation of the workgroup at home, at the University or in teacher training schools.

Assessment methods and criteria

The note has two compounents :
a note based on the preparation and implementation of a teaching/learning setting and a note based on a written examn in January

Work placement(s)

A work placement is organized in Higher Teaching schools. The students are divided into duet. You can refer to the teaching commitments YST69012-1 (300h) for some more information.
