Learning unit contents

The aim of this course is to improve the knowledge and the know-how acquired by the student in LANG1926-1), on a linguistic level (structures, specific vocabulary) and in the understanding of German (business-) culture.

Taught in German - and in French for grammar explanations

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

In connection with the KLOs, this course aims to help the students: - to communicate in a precise and fluent way in German, orally and in writing; - to adapt their language and their register to the situation, being aware of its multicultural components; - to be autonomous; - to be curious and rigorous; - to take the social, economic, political and environmental reality of German speaking countries into account.   At the end of the class: European level C1 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Having passed the exam for advanced students in the 1st year of the Master's degree or having a european B2+/C1 level
(European Language Portfolio)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Discovering different aspects of business life in Germany (vocabulary, cultural and economical aspects).
Debates; presentations.
Looking for a job in a german-speaking country.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

24 hours of lectures and homework.

Assessment methods and criteria

Tests during the semester in class!
Compulsary and active participation in class! (10%)

Written exam (40 %):  Essay and listening comprehension
Oral exam (60 %):  During the semester: Presentation based on documents in German 
Exam: Presentation of a press file
Students have to take all the different parts of the examination, otherwise the final mark will be 0/20.
 
The written exam may partly take the form of an online evaluation, conducted by an external organisation. More information will be provided during the semester.
