Learning outcomes of the learning unit
In connection with the KLOs, this course aims at helping the students:
- to demonstrate scientific precision and a critical mind (strategy).
- to communicate efficiently, internally and externally, about a company, organization or project (communication).
- to improve their proficiency in German as a foreign language (communication).
- to raise their awareness of the multicultural and international features of their environment (communication).
- to be aware of the societal, economic, political, and environmental issues of a compex situation (Adaptability).
- to be curious and to show a scientific precision of academic level (Adaptability).
At the end of the year, the students should be able to communicate orally and in writing in German at the European level B1+. (European Language Portfolio)
They should be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters, to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling, to produce simple connected texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and to describe experiences, events, and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations on opinions and plans.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
European level A2+/B1- for the four skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
In the class room:
- discovering several chapters of the book (vocabulary, grammar)
- listening comprehension
- oral exercises
- grammar and vocabulary exercises (for example on Lol@: online exercises)
- reading comprehension exercises
- written exercises
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
In the class room: 2 hours / week in the first semester, 3 hours / week in the second semester.

Second semester: "Deutsch als Fremdsprache im Unternehmen", Sander et al., Niveau B1 (Klett)

Assessment methods and criteria
Compulsary prensence and participation in class: 10%
Exam in January and June.
60% for the written exam:
- listening comprehension (20%)
- writing (20%)
- grammar and vocabulary (25%)
The student who doesn't take all the parts of the exam will get a 0/20 as final mark.
