Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Anatomy

Anatomical bases needed to understand the physiology and physiopathology of the cardiovascular system for future professionals in the area of sports

Neuroanatomy

Description of the teaching unit
This course provides information on the anatomical and functional organisation of the vegetative nervous system, including its involvement in cardiovascular function.

Histology

Histology of blood and lymphatic circulatory systems and heart

Physiology

- General organization of the cardiovascular system. - Functional study of the heart. - Study of the vascular system. - Applications.

Special pathology

Introduction to cardiopathies (heart troubles) that include heart revalidation in therapeutic care: stable angor, unstable angor, acute infarcts of the heart muscle, valvulopathies, hypertension, heart deficiency.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Neuroanatomy

Upon successful completion of this teaching unit, the student will have acquired knowledge about the structural and functional organisation of the vegetative nervous system, as well as the application of this knowledge to normal vegetative control (cardiorespiratory regulations, physical activity, stress, urinary function).

Physiology

-/-

Special pathology

Bring students to understand major tenets in pathogenesis, clinical presentation, stages in the treatment of considered diseases.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Neuroanatomy

  • Prerequisite: elementary information on the Anatomy of the nervous system as provided in preuniversity teaching and in the introductory course to human anatomy.
  • Please refer to the course programme for all the required courses before or during this unit.
For the precise learning unites that must be completed before (prérequis) or at the same time (corequis) as this unit, please refer to the course programme.

Histology

Prerequisites: general histology
co-requisites: : the other lectures of the module

Physiology

-/-

Special pathology

Notions of anatomy, understanding physiology and major physiopathological mechanisms.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Neuroanatomy

Teaching method
Lectures.

Histology

Theory: ex-cathedra
Seminars

Physiology

The theoretical course comprises 4-5 sessions of 1 h.30. A pdf version of the slides proposed during lectures is posted on the website myUlg.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Neuroanatomy

On site ("face-to-face" - auditorium).

Histology

Face-to-face delivery

Physiology

See schedule.

Special pathology

Organisation: five theoretical lectures of two hours.

Recommended or required readings

Neuroanatomy

  • Course book available online and in print for all students, in French.
  • Course slides available on eCampus
  • The "Vade Mecum" of the course book includes a list of suggested references, many of which are available in English.

Histology

Lecture notes and slides on My ULg or e-campus

Physiology

Slide show and lecture notes available.

Special pathology

Syllabus ; CD-ROM with all the slides that are shown to students.

Assessment methods and criteria

Anatomy

Examinations will be organized following the rules of the council

Neuroanatomy

Written examination of the cardiovasculary teaching module.
1 question with an open response concerning the neuroanatomy or neurophysiology.
The neuroanatomical questions are corrected and evaluated according to an "answer sheet"/model where points are given to predetermined elements that have to be present in the student's answer.

Physiology

Examinations will be organized following the rules of the council
Evaluation: Written examination for the cardio-vasculary module.

Special pathology

Written examination for the cardio-vasculary module.
