Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

part : production of temperate fish and tropical fish

- - -

part : algae, molluscs, crustaceans

This course is a general introduction to the marine aquaculture world. The socio-economical, historical and environmental contexts of marine aquaculture are briefly discussed. Basic general techniques are presented and applied to various marine taxa currently cultivated. Then, the aquaculture of studied marine organisms (i.e. algae, mollusks, crustaceans and echinoderms) is detailed: uses, production statistics, biology, life cycle, farming, harvesting, packaging and pathology.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

part : production of temperate fish and tropical fish

---

part : algae, molluscs, crustaceans

1. To present general aspects of marine aquaculture for algae and invertebrates (concepts, methods, diversity,...). 2. To place marine aquaculture in its socio-economical and environmental context.

Assessment methods and criteria

Exam is passed if each partim is passed (10/20)

part : production of temperate fish and tropical fish

Written examination

part : algae, molluscs, crustaceans

The whole course "Zootechnie aquacole", including this partim, is evaluated through the writing and an oral presentation of an aquaculture project.
The terms of this project will be detailed during the courses.
