Learning unit contents
This course will give students a first overview of livestock production worldwide, and the basics of animal husbandry putting the emphasis on "animal" related issues: 1. Introduction 2. Domestication and history of livestock production in the world 3. Classification of farm animals and adaptation 4. Main breeds of domestic species 5. Basic principles of genetic improvement of livestock 6. Animal breeding structures
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course the students should be able to understand the different, global aspects of animal farming activities and livestock production through the focus "animal" preparing the following "technical" classes in animal production.
