Learning unit contents

This course, after an introduction to the criminological psychology specificities, focuses on  the perpetrators and victims of crime in the frame of three thematic: juvenile delinquency, domestic violence and child abuses. It uses the presentation of explanatory models, typological models, risk and protective factors studies. The specificities of the psycho- legal intervention in Belgium, the assessment and the treatment will be discussed for each of these sections.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- Provide a set of relevant theoretical data on the various psychological and criminological aspects of the study's objects (juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, child abuse). - Awareness of specific psycho- judicial treatment in these areas. - Encourage critical thinking and practice of quality on these issues.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Presentations of theoretical models and data. Active participation of students in the course on the basis of records and presentations of clinical cases.
