Learning unit contents

Theoretical part: exposition of various psychological theories related to a given theme. Practical part: application of critical reading to explanatory theories. Selected theme: in alternate years, a theme from either human or animal psychology (emotions, the question of influence, constructivism in psychology, etc.)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To enable students to critically read the scientific theories of human and animal psychology, in order to pinpoint the multiple stakes that determine the theoretical and methodological choices. Deal with the specificity of human and social sciences in the more general domain of epistemology.

Recommended or required readings

2 books dealing with similar issues should be analysed. The references of the books will be given during the seminar.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students are expected to give a written paper about one of the topics of the seminar, this paper should be based upon the 2 books they will choose in the list. Students are expected to give an oral presentation of a first version of their work in March.
