Learning unit contents
The seminar will address a subject or a group of subjects (this year, on the Journal encyclopédique and the Weissenbruch Fund) which students will choose together during a preparatory session organised at the start of the academic year. As part of this, each student will be responsible for studying a question which they will attempt to answer through research, and present in a written piece of work in the form of a scientific article. Group work (oral presentations at different stages of the research to facilitate exchange of information and shared problem solving) and individual interviews will occur throughout the research. As the opportunity arises, students may be required to attend scientific meetings.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course aims to give students the possibility of acquiring the theoretical and methodological bases as well as the techniques involved in oral and written expression required for carrying out research in the chosen theme.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A good general knowledge of French literature of the Enlightenment.

Oral seminar presentations (presentation of the problem in question, then progress and the results of the research); and a written paper (a scientific article).
